Renova is prescribed to reduce fine wrinkles,
discoloration, and roughness on facial skin (as part of a
comprehensive program of skin care and sun avoidance). Renova
(Tretinoin) is available in cream or gel form, and in a stronger
gel called Retin-A Micro.
Drug Mechanism: How does Renova work?
Renova (Tretinoin) irritates the skin and causes the cells of the
skin to grow (divide) and die more rapidly, that is, it increases
the turnover of cells. The number of layers of cells in the skin
actually is reduced. In patients with acne, new cells replace the
cells of existing pimples, and the rapid turnover of cells
prevents new pimples from forming.

| TRETINOIN (Altinac™, Avita™, RenovaŽ, Retin-AŽ,
Retin-AŽ Micro™) is a naturally occurring form of vitamin A. It is
applied to the skin to treat mild to moderate acne or to treat the
effects of aging on the face, such as fine lines, wrinkles, or
"age spots". Generic tretinoin cream, liquid, and gel are
available.
